I Hate Shopping Here

My husband always teases me when I try to shop because he knows that either I will end up with nothing or end up buying something that I will not be wearing at all.

Yung material nila dito, if cotton, yon bang parang madaling magfade, sabagay yung iba kasi galing sa Vietnam or China, or Mexico.

Hay , kakamiss talaga magshopping sa Pilipinas kong mahal, like  SM .

I felt the same. It takes a while to really find the right place that carries that right stuff, right size for you. Being Asians, we are mostly in the petite section. Banana Republic, Gap and Old Navy are some of my favorite stores. When budget is restricted, I go to the Outlet stores. I did miss SM, Galleria and other department stores in Manila where you find everything you want and need in one humongous location. No need to drive. Galleria for example, has Fedex, a gunshop and a furniture store in one of its levels.

Going back to shopping here. Let me also introduce the idea of alteration. Pag mahaba ang jeans, the stores usually will alter for you for free. Just ask. Or if you really find something, nice but not quite to your size, take it to a seamstress or a friend who knows who to sew. By the way, don’t take your alteration to a shop in the mall, they charge an arm and a leg even for jeans trimming. An alternaltive is either a trusted Indian seamstress in Fremont. Took a soft suede boots to her one time and she did a really good job for only $25. A cobbler would have charged me $100!

It takes patience and definitely resourcefulness. Happy shopping!

Kaloka ang ibang pinoy. Pag nasa pinas, gusto imported. Pag dating dito, gusto galing pinas. Puro reklamo.
