Winter Spare the Air

Last week during our lunch break, I overheard my coworkers talking about “burn”. Somebody was asking somebody ” did you burn? ” and someone replied, ” I was burning! ” . I was curious as to what is the “burning” all about but as I was having my lunch, I didn’t want to  care much about other things.

While eating, I was thinking “burn”??? “Burning” as in with high fever, on fire, or excited?? I wonder what they were talking about but oh, well, can’t talk when your mouth is full no?

Fast forward two days later, I found out that the whole hullabaloo about the “burn” word was there is now a WINTER SPARE THE AIR DAY in the Bay Area which is…

From November to February, particulate matter — especially particulate matter 2.5 microns or smaller in size (PM2.5) — can become a problem in the Bay Area. To protect public health, the Air District will issue a Winter Spare the Air Alert when PM2.5 concentrations are expected to be unhealthy. When a Winter Spare the Air Alert is in effect, burning wood, firelogs, or pellets in your fireplace or woodstove is illegal. Wood burning produces about one-third of the particulate pollution on a typical winter night.

Hmm, I never knew that burning anything in the fireplace or wood stove  can ever be illegal. But then this is America, anything is possible I guess. So now people have to watch out if they can burn or not burn during a certain day or in other words, “check before you burn”.

I placed a widget on my sidebar so you can see if you can burn today. :)

More Processed Meat by Happy Slip

A friend sent me this Youtube video of Happy Slip. I found it so funny, thought I’d share it here.

So what part of the video can you relate to ? Was it with the towels and lotions? Me, it was the spam and the corned beef, that’s so totally me. If I can pack a lot of Spam and Hormel corned beef there I would but unfortunately my family can only take so much … :)

Election’s Over…

Why sya nanalo? Naku, di na dapat magtaka, as in ang daming supporters nya kaya talaga. Yung dami nilang yon di pa sya manalo? Syempre sure win na talaga, kumbaga, ” in the bag” na yan.

Let’s wait and see the change that he will be implementing which I hope will be soon.

Plummeting Gas Prices

So if there’s one good thing about the weakening of the US economy right now is this, gas prices are going down, down, down. Imagine it goes down to 3 cents every day???

The other day, my husband went out early morning to get gas, price was 2.87 dollars a gallon, when we passed by the same gas station that same day after work, it was already down to 2.83 dollars, that’s four cents less than the early morning price my husband paid for, right?

Frankly, I have mixed feelings about the plummeting gas prices. I feel a bit relieved that buying gas is not as expensive as before but on the other hand, I feel like something’s amiss here, like something’s fishy or something’s terribly wrong or will go wrong. Is it really just the supply and demand factor why gas prices are going down? Is there more supply these days due to the fact a lot of people got laid off, so they are spending less on gas, they travel less these days?

I feel there’s more to it than just that reason, I feel that there’s an impending doom looming ahead.

Okay, maybe I am just getting too paranoid, I hope that is just that, nothing else.

Sabi ng isang kano, McCain sya, kasi of the two, lesser evil daw si McCain.  Pareho daw kasing mukhang phony, peke. Okay lang kahit anong kulay basta effective and efficient di ba?

Oh well, let’s just wait and hold our breath for America’s next president, be it Obama or McCain.

Sa lahat ng mga pwedeng bumoto sa November 4, “get out and vote!” and vote wisely.
